Today we are excited to have Pastor Jeremy Melendez from Stockton Victory Outreach as our guest.

When was the first time you experienced drinking or drugs?

He was in the 6th grade and he tried smoking weed, he was about 12 years old.

What or who influenced you to start doing drugs?

His two older stepbrothers sold weed and people would come to his house to get it all the time.

Did marijuana lead to any other drugs?

Speed, PCP basically anything that gave him a feel good high.

What are some of the things you were doing while you were using?

There was this time when he was on a speed run for 2 or 3 days. When he was about to come down, he was smoking some weed and his friend said that he had some acid, so he dropped 2 tabs of acid. Since he was up for a few days the acid didn’t take effect that quick. He wanted to come down so later that evening, so he was trying to score some weed to come down, but instead there was PCP and that did it. It kicked off the scariest high, he felt like he could not move his body people were coming up to him and asking if he was ok, but he couldn’t move.

Did you ever hallucinate?

He seen demon just right in his face from being so high.

What was the price of you using drugs? With your friends, your family, other relationships? Did the addiction cost you everything?

Family there was no trust with him or his family, his mom no longer gave him money.

After you realized you couldn’t stop using, what did you tell yourself? Did you just continue to get high because you thought there was no hope?

Yes, he still got high after all the madness

What was the worst point or the turning point in your life, that you knew you needed help, and then you began to seek help? What happened? What was like emotion like?

After being arrested a few times. It was just combination of things that took place in his life and he just got tired of it.

Now that you’ve recovered, what word of encouragement would you like to give someone who is struggling with addiction?

The most important thing is to remember that no matter what you have done that God still loves you. And that the god we serve is a forgiving God.

Thank you from the Drug Free Mind Set Team.
