The Drug Free Mindset Show
Today we are excited to have Sister Panda from Texas as our guest. She has been on the show “The X Factor USA” 2012 and we heard her testimony at our local church Victory Outreach, Modesto. Listen for her uplifting song “Well Done” at the end of her testimony. If you would like more of her music contact her by typing in Panda Ross on Google, Youtube, Twitter, and Facebook.
When was the first time you experienced drinking or drugs?
She was about 12 or 13 when she started smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol.
Did you try any other drug besides marijuana?
She didn’t try anything else tell she was about 17 but this is the age where she started smoking crack cocaine.
What are some of the things you were doing while you were using?
It was a crazy life and she pretty much had to do what she had to do, but in the beginning she would steal a few dollars from work pawn stuff, but after a while she wasn’t able to be a functioning addict. She lost her job, so she had to steal, rob, even prostitute.
Did you ever hallucinate or an overdose?
She had an overdose twice in her life. In one overdose she tells us that her eyes began to get blurry. She was going down but as she felt her life almost fading away she felt something and to this day she believes it was God protecting her. She called on the name of the Lord and all the pain she was feeling began to leave her. She remembered that she got up got her drugs and flushed them down the toilet and everyone in the house was thinking, she is crazy.
What was the price of you using drugs? With your friends, your family, other relationships? Did the addiction cost you everything?
Respect from people in her life, the people who have seen things in her that she didn’t see and they would tell her that she could make a difference. She also lost her family, her kids.
What was the worst point or the turning point in your life, that you knew you needed help, and then you began to seek help? What happened? What was like emotion like?
She thinks back to the time when she was six and half months pregnant and she was smoking crack cocaine all day long, she was walking home and a man jumped out of nowhere and raped her while she was six months pregnant and beating her. This was a breaking point in her life for a while. She changing point came when her kids saw her smoking crack.
Now that you’ve recovered, what word of encouragement would you like to give someone who is struggling with addiction?
Victory Outreach, they offer a Christian Recovery Home for men and women. She knows that God is the only one that can change your life and what you are going through. The people there also know what you are going through because they have been there too.
Do you believe that the enemy will ever stop trying to tempt someone in recovery?
No, but every day with the Lord we gain the strength to overcome the temptations the enemy throws at us.
Once someone is out of a recovery what steps do you believe that someone will always need to do, to stay clean?
Find some that will pray with you and always be there for you.
I would like to thank you for taking the time, to give us this interview. I’m sure, the people who listen to it, will be inspired and you have given them a bit of encouragement.
Thank you from the Drug Free Mind Set Team.
